MEC Woodworks and Designable – a collaboration outside the woodshop

Fellow woodworker and all-around nice guy Michael (@mecwoodworks) connected with me on Instagram (connect with me: @designableco and several months ago, at which time he graciously sent me a large chunk of Osage Orange wood (a species I’ve never worked with before) from a slab he recently acquired. I’ll be turning that piece into a small hall tabletop, with a unique visual twist.

Fast-forward a few months and Michael reached out again, this time inquiring about logo design services to better brand his growing influence on the web. The logo, featuring a saw blade silhouette, Michael’s initials and the word woodworks, pretty much explains about the service he provides. It’s not rocket science, its woodworking. We worked through a few iterations of the shape and color schemes before deciding on this design and the black and silver color. Other color variations may be implemented during holidays or other occasions.

Acquiring high quality, die-cut stickers, Michael also partakes in #stickerswap with other woodworkers on Instagram to make new friends, gain inspiration and grow his follower base.
